A Sarasota County high school is top of its class, according to state rankings.

Pine View School rated the best public high school in Florida among 1,169 schools in 2024 U.S. News & World Report rankings. Pine View also ranked No. 18 among all high schools across the nation, according to the ratings.

U.S. News and World Report scored schools on college readiness (30%), college curriculum breadth (10%), state assessment proficiency (20%), state assessment performance (20%), underserved student performance (10%) and graduation rate (10%) to determine the rankings.

Pine View School graduates celebrate at their commencement ceremony at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota on Sunday. About 150 students graduated from the school.

Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academy in Broward County, Westshore Junior/Senior High School in Brevard County, Archmedean Upper Conservatory Charter School in Miami-Dade County, Stanton College Preparatory School in Duval County, Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School in Brevard County, Marine Academy of Science and Technology in Miami-Dade County, Jose Marti-Mast 6-12 Academy in Miami-Dade County, Design and Architecture Senior High School in Miami-Dade County, and Alexander W. Dreyfoos Junior School of the Arts in Palm Beach County rounded out Florida’s top 10.

Suncoast Polytechnical High School and Riverview High School joined Pine View as Sarasota County high schools in the state’s top 100 at No. 37 and No. 71, respectively.
