This is just a reminder that tickets for the much awaited “Forks & Corks” event go on sale November 11. The festival is held from January 24 – 27, 2014, but sells out quickly. For those of you who have never experienced this yearly celebration, imagine four days of culinary debauchery involving various Florida wine and beer maker events, and food and wine seminars throughout the city.
The big ticket is the Grand Tasting, held at the Ringling Museum, complete with champagne reception, guided tour of the art museum, incredible food and wine pairings and tickets to the kick-off party. Last year, tickets for the Grand Tasting sold out in 4 hours.
Schedule of events for this year’s festival:
Various Winemaker Events – January 24 & 25th
A variety of dinners, tastings and luncheon seminars throughout the city – details to be announced
Forks & Corks University – January 25
Held at Michael’s on East Ballroom and Wine Cellar, features a panel of winemakers sharing information about pairings, along with a gourmet four-course luncheon.
The Grand Tasting – January 26 from 12 – 4 pm
Cost: $95 ticket (plus service charges) or
VIP tickets: $250 (plus service charges): Includes $100 wine voucher, VIP parking, early admission, champagne reception, guided tour of the art museum, covered seating and invite to the kick-off party.
The Grand Tasting features food tastings from over 50 top restaurants, wines from over 100 international wineries and micro-brews and craft beers. The dramatic location for the event is in the courtyard of the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art. Many of these wines are not readily available in local stores, but can be purchased at the event.
